Who is a Product Manager?
By: Shardul Mahida
A Product Manager (PM) at Intel is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of a product or product line. This includes market research, product definition, pricing, forecasting, and go-to-market strategy.
The PM is the “voice of the customer” and must have a deep understanding of customer needs and market trends. They work closely with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that the product meets the needs of the target market and can be sold at a profit.
One of the key responsibilities of a PM at Intel is to develop a product roadmap that outlines the direction and priorities for the product line. This roadmap should align with the overall company strategy and take into account the competitive landscape, customer needs, and technology trends.
The PM also plays a critical role in the product development process. They work with the engineering team to define the product requirements and ensure that the final product meets the needs of the target market. They also work with the marketing team to develop a go-to-market strategy and create marketing materials to promote the product.
In addition to these responsibilities, the PM at Intel must also manage the product life cycle. This includes monitoring product performance, making adjustments as necessary to improve performance, and eventually phasing out the product when it reaches the end of its life.
Overall, the Product Manager at Intel is a key position that plays a critical role in the success of the company. A good PM has strong leadership and communication skills, a deep understanding of the market and customers, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
